The Osun State Local Government Chairmen have concluded plans to officially flag off the distribution of 300 security motorcycles to various security agencies across the state in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots security architecture.
The initiative, coordinated under the All Local Governments Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 14th April,2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the main frontage of the Police Headquarters, Ring Road, Osogbo.
In a statement signed by the Osun ALGON Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, the council leaders disclosed that the motorcycles were procured collectively by all local government councils in the state as part of efforts to enhance security response at the grassroots level.
According to the statement, the event, expected to last for about one hour, will feature the official handover of the motorcycles directly to the benefiting security agencies at the venue.
While providing the breakdown of the distribution, Hon. Abiodun explained that each of the 30 local government councils procured 10 motorcycles. Out of these, three units will be allocated to the Nigeria Police Force, two to the Department of State Services (DSS), two to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and one unit each will go to the Vigilante Group, Hunters’ Association, and local community security outfits in every council area respectively.
The move underscores a growing collaboration between local governments and security agencies to curb crime and improve safety across communities in Osun State.
