The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the conclusion of the first quarter of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which began with online pre-registration on 18 August 2025 and physical registration on 25 August, 2025 while the quarter officially ends on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025, by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, the Commission said that it will commence the mandatory Display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections as from 15 to 21 December, 2025.
The exercise according to the statement, is in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act 2022 and it will take place at all the Local Government Offices nationwide. INEC urged Nigerians, particularly those who registered, transferred, or updated their information during the first phase, to use the opportunity to verify their records, correct errors, and help identify ineligible or deceased persons on the roll.
“Public participation in this process is essential to safeguarding the integrity of the Register of Voters,” the statement read.
While providing a weekly progress report, the Commission disclosed that 9,891,801 online pre-registrations have so far been recorded nationwide. Out of this figure, 2,572,054 registrations have been fully completed, including 1,503,832 online completions and 1,068,222 physical registrations as of 28 November 2025.
INEC also confirmed that the CVR exercise remains suspended in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the ongoing electoral activities. New dates for resumption in both locations will be announced later.
The Commission also stated that the second phase of the CVR will resume on 5 January 2026, following the previously released timelines.
