The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 33 suspects in connection with the November 20, 2025 attack on a Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) in Eruku community, Kwara State, in a major crackdown on criminal networks operating across parts of the North Central geopolitical zone.
The suspects, numbering 33, were apprehended during coordinated security operations. While authorities confirmed the arrests, the full list of names circulating online has not been officially verified by the police.
Police operatives recovered a cache of weapons from the suspects. The weapons include seven AK-47 rifles, magazines, 32 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, walkie-talkie communication devices, and a camouflage hydration backpack. Notably, an anti-aircraft launcher and an anti-aircraft rifle were also recovered, highlighting the sophistication of the group’s arsenal.
The arrests were carried out in recent days, with the suspects paraded on Monday,13th April, 2026 as part of ongoing nationwide efforts to combat criminal activities.
According to the police sources, the operations took place across multiple locations, including Gbugbu, Oro-Ago, Babanla, Kaiama, Awi, Charagi, Patigi, and Oke-ode, spanning parts of Kwara and neighbouring communities.
The suspects are believed to be responsible for the deadly November 2025 attack on the Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, which left several victims dead and others abducted, sparking outrage and heightened security concerns in the state.
The sources further revealed that, the arrests followed intelligence-led operations targeting suspected criminal hideouts. During the raids, some suspects reportedly fled, abandoning their heavy and sophisticated weapons, while others were captured with arms and communication equipment used for coordinating attacks.
The police said the suspects are amongst about 50 individuals paraded as part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates involved in terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
Authorities assured that investigations are ongoing and that those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
