The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, 8th December, 2025, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Adesoji Omosebi, Publisher of SOJ Worldwide Online News and former Chairman of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA).
Governor Adeleke, who described Omosebi’s passing as a major loss to the media industry in Osun State, stressed that the deceased played a crucial role in the growth and development of online journalism in the state. Adeleke said Omosebi’s contributions to strengthening the “fourth estate of the realm” in Osun would remain indelible.
In a condolence statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said the late publisher was not only a pioneer but also a committed voice in promoting good governance through digital media.
While reacting to the death, the governor directed the Osun State Health Insurance Agency to explore the possibility of enrolling journalists in the state’s Health Insurance programme. He said that journalists are vital stakeholders who deserve support and protection, especially regarding healthcare access.
“May God Almighty comfort his family, the pen professionals and grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss. SOJ will be missed greatly,” Adeleke stated.
Omosebi’s death was confirmed on Sunday and has generated widespread grief among media practitioners in the state.
