In a move aimed at strengthening transparency and efficiency in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appointed Alhaji Onsachi Musa Idris as a Special Assistant (SSA) on Procurement.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued on Friday, 24th April,2026 by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Idris, who retired from the civil service on April 24, 2026, previously served as Director of Procurement in the FCTA, a position he held since July 2021. His career in public service spans over three decades, covering administration, finance, and procurement management.
Described as a seasoned technocrat, Idris had earlier risen to the position of Director, Common Services (Procurement) in August 2019 before his redeployment to head the Department of Procurement in 2021. In that role, he was instrumental in overseeing procurement processes and ensuring strict compliance with established regulatory standards.
The statement highlighted Idris’ extensive experience across critical administrative and procurement functions, adding that his contributions have significantly enhanced institutional efficiency and service delivery within the FCTA.
His reappointment is seen as a strategic decision by the FCT Minister to leverage experience and continuity in the management of procurement systems, a key component of governance and project execution in the capital territory.
