The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ending the sit-at-home practice across the state, declaring that normal social and economic activities must resume in the interest of residents and businesses.
In a message that resonated widely across social media on Tuesday, 27th January,2026, supporters praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for what they described as decisive leadership aimed at restoring peace and stability in the South-East, particularly Anambra State. The calls emphasized an end to disruptions linked to separatist agitation and urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.
Government officials say the sit-at-home orders, often enforced through intimidation, have inflicted heavy losses on traders, transporters, students, and small business owners, weakening the local economy and disrupting daily life. The administration insists that security agencies have been directed to maintain law and order while protecting citizens who choose to work, study, and trade on weekdays.
“The era of enforced shutdowns is over,” a senior state official said, adding that sustained dialogue, intelligence-led security operations, and community engagement are being used to address the root causes of insecurity without punishing innocent residents.
Markets, schools, banks, and government offices across Anambra have gradually resumed operations on previously affected days, with authorities urging the public to reject fear and support peace-building efforts.
As Anambra pushes for full economic recovery, the state government has called on community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders to collaborate in promoting unity, lawful expression, and development, affirming that a peaceful Anambra is essential to the progress of the entire South-East region.
