The crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a dramatic turn on Monday as the party in Ife Federal Constituency proannounced the suspension of the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; former National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo; and the Ife East Local Government Chairman of the party, Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde, aka Benco.
The decision to suspend the party stwallts was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a constituency meeting held at the residence of the Osun East Senatorial Leader on September 1, 2025.
As it contains in the communiqué, the party leaders expressed their dissatisfaction with the conduct of Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, a member of the House of Representatives who recently defected from the PDP despite being elected on the party’s platform.
The meeting condemned the alleged invitation of thugs and hoodlums to the constituency gathering by Hon. Makinde, purportedly on the instructions of Prof. Oladipo. It was noted that the meeting was initially scheduled to hold at the residence of the deputy governor before the alleged disruptions.
Also, the Party leaders faulted the continued relationship between Adewusi, Oladipo, and Makinde with Ajilesoro, insisting that such fraternization threatening and undermines the PDP in the constituency.
The communiqué further accused the suspended leaders of sidelining loyal members who openly opposed Ajilesoro’s defection. It alleged that personalities such as Lawrence Omotosho, Adeyinka Adeniji (a.k.a Gbogbo Ebe), and Yakubu Olawusi were being victimized and stripped of positions in both government and party structures.
As part of its resolutions, the meeting passed a vote of no confidence on Adewusi, Oladipo, and Makinde, declaring their actions as “anti-party activities” capable of undermining PDP’s strength and prospects in Ifeland.
“A vote of no confidence is hereby passed on Prof. Wale Oladipo, Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, and Hon. Olasunkanmi Makinde, Chairman of Ife East Local Government PDP,” the communiqué contained.
This development marks a major escalation in the internal wrangling within Osun PDP, with implications for the party’s cohesion ahead of future political contests in the state.
