President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, on a State Visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic, and strategic ties between both countries.
The presidential aircraft landed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport at exactly 9:03 p.m. local time, where President Tinubu was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin. Also present at the airport were Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, alongside other officials of the Nigerian Embassy.
Upon arrival at his hotel, the President was welcomed by key members of his delegation, including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).
Other senior officials who received the President included the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh, SAN; Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson; Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
President Tinubu’s State Visit is focused on deepening the long-standing cordial relations between Nigeria and Türkiye, while exploring new areas of cooperation that would advance a mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.
During the visit, the Nigerian leader is expected to hold bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with discussions covering diplomacy, security, trade, investment, and technological cooperation. The visit will also feature the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Nigeria and Türkiye, alongside other official engagements.
The visit underscores Nigeria’s continued commitment to strengthening strategic international partnerships under President Tinubu’s foreign policy agenda.
