The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025, flagged off activities for its 2025 Digital Media Week, with an inspection tour of critical public infrastructure across Osogbo, the state capital, as part of its Community Social Responsibility initiative.
Led by its Chairman, Mukhtar Ajelogbon, the delegation visited the Old-Garage/Oke-Fia Lameco Road, Oke-Fia Flyover and Lameco Flyover, along with adjoining corridors, to evaluate completed and ongoing projects as well as locations requiring government intervention.
Speaking during the exercise, Ajelogbon said the association chose to begin the week with an on-site assessment to gain firsthand insight into infrastructural realities in the state.
“This visit is part of our social responsibilities to observe what the government has done and to identify areas still lacking in infrastructure,” he said. “It is not political. It is simply a factual assessment of the current state of infrastructure in Osogbo.”
OOPA noted that Osogbo has recorded visible infrastructure improvements in the last eight years, particularly in road networks and major junctions, but stressed the need for sustained attention to address persistent gaps.
The group commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for ongoing intervention projects across the state but urged faster completion of the Lameco flyover, stresing that its full accessibility would improve mobility and further strengthen the achievements of the current administration.
According to Ajelogbon, the exercise was designed to be neutral and fact-driven. “The governor has made noticeable progress, and that is acknowledged. At the same time, there are other roads that needed to be done. Our duty is to report both sides objectively,” he said.
He further encouraged the government to prioritise maintenance, drainage development, traffic management and community-focused infrastructure that have direct improvememt on the residents.
The association also appealed to citizens to cultivate a culture of preserving public assets to ensuring sustainability which motivate government to do more.
Earlier in the day, the Digital Media Week Planning Committee, chaired by Adesoji Omosebi, held a press briefing where Ajelogbon officially declared this year’s edition open, noting that a series of engagements and events had been scheduled.
The inspection tour marks the first activity of the OOPA Digital Media Week, which will continue over the next few days with a lineup of programmes aimed at strengthening digital media practice and civic engagement in Osun State.
