The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially named Ife-born politician, Hon. Tunde Lekan Olatunji, as the running mate to its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Olatunji, a former Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, previously represented Ife-North State Constituency, where he built a reputation within legislative circles for party organization and grassroots mobilisation.
Party sources disclosed that his selection followed days of internal consultations and strategic negotiations among key stakeholders across the state’s political blocs.
Political observers say the choice reflects the APC’s effort to strengthen its electoral spread across Osun by balancing regional and political interests, particularly consolidating support in the Ife axis, a critical voting bloc in the state’s electoral arithmetic.
The unveiling further signals the intensification of political activities ahead of the off-cycle governorship election expected to reshape the power dynamics in the State of Osun.
More details from the party leadership are expected in the coming days as preparations for the campaign season gather momentum.
