President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured members of the Armed Forces and Nigerians that the country will ultimately overcome insecurity, declaring that the sacrifices of soldiers defending the nation will never be in vain.

The President gave the assurance on Friday, 6th March,2027 during an interfaith breaking of fast with members of the Armed Forces at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu commended the courage, sacrifice and professionalism of military personnel currently battling terrorists and bandits across different parts of the country, noting that their efforts have significantly weakened the capacity of criminal groups threatening national security.

“I commend your courage, sacrifice and professionalism as you put your lives on the line in defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens,” the President said.

He acknowledged the difficult conditions under which many servicemen and women operate, often spending long periods away from their families while confronting armed groups in dangerous environments.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of officers and men on the frontlines, stressing that government would continue to invest in modern military equipment, intelligence gathering and logistics to strengthen operational effectiveness.

According to him, the government’s broader economic reforms are also beginning to yield results, assuring Nigerians that the country is emerging from a difficult phase.

“I am happy to inform you that your sacrifices and that of fellow citizens are not in vain. We are now out of the dark tunnel,” Tinubu said.

He also expressed sympathy to the government and people of Borno State over a recent terrorist attack in the state.

Earlier, the Chief of Defence Staff, Oluwafemi Oluyede, represented by the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, commended the President for recent approvals aimed at improving the welfare of members of the Armed Forces.

He particularly thanked Tinubu for approving an upward review of salaries and allowances for military personnel, including members of the Brigade of Guards, as well as investments in equipment procurement and improved accommodation for troops.

The defence chief said the measures would significantly boost morale and operational efficiency within the Armed Forces.

He assured the President that the military remains committed to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and safeguarding the lives of its citizens.
