The Osun State Police Command has arrested two men, Habeeb Adedayo and Akeem Fawas, for the brutal murder of a 26-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Segun Olatunji, in Iwo.
The Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspects were tracked down in Ibafo, Ogun State, while attempting to sell the victim’s motorcycle.
According to the Police statement, the duo lured the deceased under the guise of hiring him to a farm for a fee of ₦5,000. Along the way, Adedayo allegedly stabbed Olatunji in the neck before slitting his throat.
“The suspects confessed to posing as farmers and deceiving the victim into conveying them to their supposed farmland from Odo-Ori area, Iwo, after which they killed him and stole his motorcycle,” Ojelabi revealed.
He added that Adedayo also confessed to being involved in earlier robberies in Ori-Eru, Agbowo, and Ebu Alare, all within Iwo. Items recovered from them include a motorcycle and a knife.
Similarly, the operatives of the Prompt Response Unit of Nigerian Police intercepted a stolen Toyota Camry at Unity Junction, Ikire, on August 29, 2025. The driver fled after failing to produce vehicle documents. Police investigations later revealed that the car had been stolen in Owode-Ede the same night.
The Police Spokeperson assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and prosecute all those involved in the crimes.
