Cabinet Reshuffle: OYEDELE TAKES OVER FINANCE, EDUN, DANGIWA EXIT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, leading to the exit of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

The decision, announced in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, marks a strategic adjustment within the Federal Executive Council (FEC) aimed at strengthening governance and accelerating economic delivery.

According to the statement, Mr. Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.

Similarly, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, effectively replacing Dangiwa. The outgoing minister has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State pending the confirmation of his successor.

The memo directed that all handing over processes be concluded on or before Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Explaining the rationale behind the reshuffle, Akume stated that the changes are intended to “strengthen cohesion and synergy in governance” while enhancing the administration’s capacity to deliver tangible economic outcomes under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He further stressed that the President exercised his constitutional powers in line with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours. He also reassured remaining cabinet members that efforts to reinvigorate governance would be an ongoing process.process.
