President Bola Tinubu led a special session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to pay tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The session was attended by various dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Ministers,the Judiciary, and state governors.
Tinubu described Buhari as a patriot who led by example, saying he was a leader of “austere honour” who remained unmoved by the temptation of power and unseduced by applause.
President Tinubu announced the renaming of the University of Maiduguri to Muhammadu Buhari University (MBU) in honor of the late president.
Speakers praised Buhari’s moral clarity, devotion to the country, and quiet strength, saying his life was “deeply woven into the fabric of our republic.”
Buhari’s son, Yusuf, broke down in tears while delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the bereaved family, expressing gratitude to the government and attendees for their support.
The session was a celebration of Buhari’s life and legacy, with attendees sharing their personal experiences and tributes to the late leader.
