The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has grounded Rano Air aircraft with registration number 5N-BZY following an engine failure incident during a flight from Abuja to Katsina.

The incident occurred when the aircraft experienced a malfunction on engine 1, resulting in smoke in the cabin and cockpit.

Fortunately, the flight crew responded promptly, donning oxygen masks and initiating emergency procedures, and the aircraft landed safely without further incident.

The aircraft’s engine 1 failed during the flight, causing smoke to fill the cabin and cockpit.

The flight crew immediately activated oxygen masks and emergency procedures to ensure a safe landing.

Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely without any injuries or fatalities.

The NCAA has ordered the grounding of the aircraft pending a full safety investigation.

Engineers are currently examining the aircraft to determine the root cause of the engine issue and smoke.

The NCAA emphasized its commitment to aviation safety protocol compliance, stating that it will not compromise on safety even if it causes disruptions to flight operations.

The incident caused disruptions to passenger travel plans, with some flights being cancelled. Passengers affected by the cancellation are expected to be accommodated in line with Rano Air’s obligations under consumer protection laws.
