A sudden windstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to parts of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Nyanya, Abuja, triggering an immediate response from authorities.

The incident, which occurred a few hours earlier, also left minor damage on the Nyanya pedestrian bridge and affected several nearby buildings, according to an official statement from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

According to the Press Release by the SA Media to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Leke Olayinka, the preliminary reports indicate that no lives were lost and no vehicles were damaged, offering some relief amid the disruption caused by the storm.

Reacting swiftly, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, directed the immediate deployment of security personnel to the affected area. The move, officials say, is aimed at maintaining law and order while ensuring the free flow of traffic around the busy transport hub.

Authorities have also assured residents that urgent steps will be taken to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.

The Kugbo Bus Terminal, a key transit point linking Abuja to neighboring areas, remains under close monitoring as emergency response efforts continue.
