Two Osun State senators, Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi (Osun Central) and Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi (Osun East), have resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) due to “irreparable divisions” and “protracted legal battles” within the party.

They cited the party’s internal crises and national leadership disputes, which have led to entrenched factions and leadership paralysis at the national level, as reasons for their departure.

Both senators, who hold leadership positions in the National Assembly, described the situation as “irreconcilable”.

Senator Fadeyi, who chairs the Senate Committee on Environment, and Senator Fadahunsi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, reached this decision after wide consultations with their political associates, family, and friends.

Their resignations signal growing disillusionment within the PDP’s ranks and may deepen the party’s internal crisis, casting doubts over its cohesion and readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
