The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for another five-year term, effective February 27, 2026.

The NSCDC chief marked the conclusion of his first term during activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja.

While the fresh mandate is expected to take effect from Monday 2nd March, 2026, President Tinubu tasked the NSCDC boss to repositioning the service to play a more strategic role in Nigeria’s security architecture, particularly at a time when the police are intensifying efforts to tackle banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism nationwide.

Born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga Town, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Dr Audi began his academic journey with a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate from Teachers’ College, Jengre, Plateau State, in 1987.
