The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, 16th February,2026 assured Nigerians that his administration will sustain ongoing economic reforms to deepen prosperity, inclusion and empowerment across the country.
Speaking during a one-day official visit to Yola, the President said the reforms were already producing visible improvements nationwide, particularly in education, healthcare and infrastructure development.
He commended Umaru Fintiri for what he described as excellent service delivery and prudent utilisation of federal allocations.
“That is the consequence of us working together, and we will achieve more macroeconomic successes. We are investing heavily in agriculture and human capital development. We must be able to feed ourselves and feed the country,” Tinubu said.
President Bola Tinubu noted that improved revenue generation and policy adjustments had enabled states to execute projects that directly affect citizens’ livelihoods. He praised the Adamawa State Government for building roads, schools and judicial infrastructure, including an eight-lane road, an underpass and a modern High Court complex to strengthen justice delivery.
Tinubu also urged state governments to intensify efforts in poverty reduction, particularly through improved access to quality education.
He thanked traditional and religious leaders for maintaining peace and unity despite economic adjustments, stressing that cooperation between the federal and sub-national governments remains vital to national development.
The President singled out the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for commendation, expressing confidence in ongoing efforts to defeat banditry and terrorism. “You are doing an excellent job… honest, bold, courageous and committed. With you, we will defeat the bandits and terrorists,” he stated.
Governor Fintiri thanked the President for the visit, his first to the state, and for commissioning key infrastructure projects, including:
21 model schools across the state’s 21 local governments costing ₦24.8 billion
Expanded Galadima Aminu Road with overhead bridge and dualised Gimba Road at ₦15.6 billion
Remodelled State High Court Complex at ₦5.5 billion
New Government House office complex at ₦6.3 billion
The governor also endorsed the Federal Government’s reforms and pledged continued support from the state and its people.
Five governors attended the ceremony, including Agbu Kefas, Babagana Zulum, Caleb Mutfwang, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya and Mai Mala Buni, alongside ministers and senior government officials.
The visit formed part of the President’s engagements with states aimed at strengthening federal-state collaboration and assessing the impact of national reforms at the grassroots level
