The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 Osun State election.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu commended the Osun State chapter of the APC for the unity, maturity and spirit of reconciliation that characterised the party’s governorship primary, which produced Oyebamiji through affirmation.
The President also applauded other aspirants who stepped down in favour of Oyebamiji, describing their action as a demonstration of party loyalty, selflessness and collective commitment to the ideals of the APC.
He urged the governorship candidate to be magnanimous in victory by carrying along all party leaders and other contestants, stressing the need for inclusivity and cohesion as the party prepares for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold in the 2026 governorship election has begun,” the President said. “I urge all members and leaders of the APC in the state to remain focused, united and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed.”
Oyebamiji’s candidature was affirmed at the APC governorship primary held on Saturday, 13 December 2025 in Osogbo, the Osun State capital. The exercise was chaired by the Edo State Governor, Mr Monday Okpebholo, with party delegates unanimously endorsing Oyebamiji as the party’s flagbearer.
The congratulatory message was signed by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and dated December 13, 2025.
