A resolution backed by European nations received 93 votes in favor at the General Assembly and 18 votes against, with 65 abstentions, while the US sided with Moscow and its allies Belarus, North Korea, and Sudan to oppose the resolution.

A resolution favored by European countries received 93 votes in favor at the General Assembly and 18 votes opposed, with 65 abstentions, while the US aligned itself with Moscow and its allies Belarus, North Korea, and Sudan to reject the resolution.

The countries that abstained were France, Britain, Denmark, Greece, and Slovenia.
‘Swift end to the conflict’ ? –
France and Britain, in particular, had the option to veto the resolution, which only “calls for a quick resolution to the conflict” without placing blame on Russia.
“In light of the constructive adjustments in the United States’ stance regarding the Ukrainian conflict, we acknowledge,” stated Russia’s UN representative Vassily Nebenzya following the vote.
After Trump’s return to the White House, relations between Washington and Kyiv have significantly worsened, with the US president alleging that Zelensky is quite unpopular and a “dictator.”
