Two live cartridges and a locally made handgun were found when the Akwa Ibom State Police Command stopped a Mercedes Benz C300 with the customized license plate FORBES JR.
In a statement released in Uyo on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John revealed that the car was pulled over during a standard stop-and-search in the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
“In a determined effort to rid Akwa Ibom State of illegal firearms and criminal elements, operatives of the Command intercepted a Mercedes Benz C300 with customized plate number FORBES JR, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm and two live cartridges,” she stated.
She went on to say that the operation, which was carried out at the Control Post in Ikot Ekpene LGA, was a component of the Command’s stepped-up plan to improve public safety and reduce crime.
Three men were inside the car when it was pulled over for a standard inspection:
27-year-old Nsisong Paul Okon is from Itak Village in Ikono LGA.

Prince Forbes, 27, of Ikono LGA’s Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya Village
CP Baba M. Azare, the Commissioner of Police, ordered a thorough investigation into the incident after the arrest. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting people and property throughout the state and its zero tolerance policy for illicit firearms.
