The Federal Government and the Kaduna State government are set to partner on light rail projects to enhance the state’s transportation system.
According to Senator Alkali, Minister of Transportation, the partnership is timely and relevant, as transportation is crucial for the nation’s economy.
The Federal Ministry of Transportation will collaborate with the Kaduna State government to develop the light rail project.
The Minister assured that the Ministry would work with the state government to ensure the timely delivery of the project.
A committee will be set up to design and develop the light rail project, with a report expected within two weeks.
President Bola Tinubu has allocated N100 billion as the first installment for the project.
Kaduna State is a leading state in transportation, with a transportation hub in northern Nigeria.
The state has received 100 CNG buses, which were commissioned by President Tinubu.
The state has also embarked on a 24km corridor BRT project, with a bus terminal expected to be completed by the third quarter of next year.
