The Osun State House of Assembly has firmly dismissed as false a social media claim alleging that the Speaker received a letter on the rotation of chairmanship amongst the traditional rulers in the state.

In an official disclaimer issued on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Olumide Egbedun, the Assembly described the publication, circulated by a Facebook page operating under the name “Ashiwaju Omo Yoruba”, as entirely fabricated and misleading.

According to the statement, at no time did the Speaker received, authorized, or acknowledged any letter relating to the rotation of chairmanship amongst the traditional rulers in Osun State. The Assembly further clarified that no such matter has ever been presented before the House or its Committee on Chieftaincy Matters.

“The claim is completely false and does not reflect the legislative activities or official records of the Osun State House of Assembly,” the statement stressed.

The Speaker also condemned the actions of the pseudo Facebook page, accusing it of deliberate misinformation aimed at misleading the public, stirring unnecessary tension, and exploiting sensitive traditional and cultural issues for ulterior motives. He stressed that such conduct undermines public trust and the integrity of democratic institutions.

Reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to constitutionalism and due legislative process, the Speaker urged members of the public, particularly residents of Osun State, to disregard the publication in its entirety. He emphasized that only statements released through the official and verified channels of the Osun State House of Assembly should be regarded as authentic.

The disclaimer was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, who reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to protect the integrity of the House against misinformation and malicious falsehoods.

The Osun State House of Assembly assured citizens that it remains steadfast in upholding truth, transparency, and responsible governance.
