NCPWD FACILITATES WITH KANUNG DISTRICT HEAD.

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) congratulates His Royal Highness, Andrew Dakup Pediel, on his inauguration as the Head of Kanung District in Dokan Kasuwa, Quaan Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, today 1st March, 2025 at the traditional Palace Ground.

Speaking at the august occasion, the Executive Secretary, NCPWD, Hon.Gufwan, who represented over 35.5 million Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria, expressed his delight at the Kingsmen’s decision to elect a person with a disability.

“This is a testament to the fact that we are capable and possess the ability to serve the public. I have no doubt that HRH Andrew Dakup Pediel will bring peace, progress, and development to the land.” He noted.

According to ES, this inauguration marks a significant milestone in promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

The NCPWD remains committed to supporting HRH Andrew Dakup Pediel as well as the people of Dokan Kasuwa District in their quest for peace, progress and development.

He drew inspiration from the remarkable leadership of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who, despite being a wheelchair user due to polio, persevered and continued to pursue his passion for politics. “Roosevelt’s legacy serves as a reminder that persons with disabilities can make valuable contributions to society when given the opportunity.” He said

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Quaan Pan LGA, Hon. Christopher Audu, expressed his appreciation to his Kingsmen for involving a young and vibrant Chief as the Head of his community.

He acknowledged the crucial role of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, Plateau State Governor, in making the installation possible. He charged the newly inaugurated Chief to rule with the fair, justice, compassion and the fear of God.

“As a Monarch, remember that the true measure of leadership lies not in the title or position, but in the positive impact we make on the lives of those we serves”. Audu submitted.

While responding, HRH Andrew Dakup Pediel, eulogized Gufwan leadership prowess and thanked him for his support in promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in Nigeria. He reaffirmed his commitment to leading his people to greater heights and sought their cooperation and support during his reign.
