Prominent International Businessman, Social Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist, Hareter Babatunde Oralusi, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 Osun State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oralusi made the declaration on Thursday, 9th October, 2025 in Osogbo, pledging to bring accountability, transparency, and innovation to governance in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Addressing the party members, supporters, and stakeholders at the event, Oralusi described his ambition as a mission to reposition Osun for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

“Today, Nigeria is at the dawn of a new era. Under the visionary leadership of President Tinubu, we are witnessing the birth of a New Nigeria, one grounded on progressive governance and innovation,” he stated.

The 54-year-old Ibadan-born entrepreneur, who holds academic credentials from the London School of Social Enterprise and Sustainable Economics, said Osun must complement national reforms with local initiatives to transform the state into “a productive, modern, and prosperous component of the New Nigeria agenda.”

Oralusi took a swipe at what he termed “entrenched political interests” in the state, saying the era of godfatherism and self-serving politics must end.

“Our resources must serve the people, not the privileged few. Governance must return to where it truly belongs, the citizens of Osun State,” he declared.

The declaration event drew a mix of political figures, business associates, and youth groups, signaling growing interest in Oralusi’s entry into the race.

With a track record as an impact investor and social development advocate, Oralusi has been involved in numerous initiatives promoting grassroots empowerment and poverty reduction. He is also known for his advocacy for local government autonomy and community-driven development.

The Political observers in the state opined that his emergence adds to the growing list of APC aspirants gearing up to challenge incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2026.

The upcoming election is expected to serve as a rematch opportunity for the APC, which lost the governorship to Adeleke in 2022 after a closely contested race against the then Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Analysts suggest that the increasing number of APC aspirants reflects the party’s determination to reclaim the state, though unity and consensus will be key ahead of the primaries.

In a passionate closing remark, Oralusi called for inclusivity and collective progress, saying, “The time is now, and no one will be left behind.”

His declaration, blending business acumen, social advocacy, and political reformist ideals, positions him as one of the fresh faces to watch in the evolving Osun 2026 political landscape.
