The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned political parties against making careless mistakes during the nomination and submission of candidates for elections.

Such errors, INEC warned, could be detrimental to both the parties and their candidates.

INEC emphasized that the nomination of candidates is a statutory obligation under Section 29 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Errors in submitting personal particulars of candidates could be potentially detrimental to both the party and its candidate.” INEC reiterated.

To checkmate this mistake, the INEC organized a refresher training workshop to enhance the capacity of political parties and minimize procedural errors in candidate nominations.

The training focused on using the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP) to ensure a smooth nomination process.
