The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has intensified its statewide stakeholder engagement ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, extending its consultative tour to Olorunda Local Government following a successful meeting in Ifelodun Local Government.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), accompanied by his management team, held a strategic interface with key electoral stakeholders in Osogbo, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process in Osun State.
The engagement brought together representatives of political parties, religious leaders, civil society organisations, security agencies, and other critical actors, reflecting INEC’s commitment to inclusivity and participatory electoral planning.
Speaking at the meeting, Agboke emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and open dialogue amongst stakeholders, saying that such interactions are vital to addressing emerging challenges and strengthening the integrity of the electoral process.
He reiterated the Commission’s resolve to deliver a peaceful, credible, free, and fair election, urging all stakeholders to play their roles responsibly as preparations gather momentum for the 2026 Osun Governorship Election.
The Olorunda visit forms part of a broader statewide tour by INEC aimed at gathering firsthand insights, fostering cooperation, and enhancing readiness across all local government areas.
Observers say the proactive engagement underscores the Commission’s determination to build trust, promote transparency, and ensure that all necessary measures are in place well ahead of the 2026 polls.
