The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, received a delegation from Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) in his office in Osogbo during a courtesy visit aimed at boosting collaboration ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The leading the team, the Executive Director of KDI, Mr. Bukola Idowu, commended the REC for his proactive preparation and early readiness for the forthcoming election. Idowu said the organisation’s visit was to reaffirm its support for the Commission and contribute towards strengthening a credible, free, fair, and transparent electoral process in the state.
He highlighted KDI’s long-standing commitment to enhancing democratic values through data-driven advocacy, civic engagement, and strategic partnerships designed to promote accountability and citizen confidence.
While responding, Dr. Agboke expressed appreciation for the visit, describing KDI as a formidable and credible institution known for providing factual data and actionable insights that consistently enrich Nigeria’s electoral processes. He affirmed INEC’s readiness to deepen collaboration with KDI in critical areas, including:-Training of INEC staff and ad-hoc personnel, capacity building for security agencies on election duty, combating misinformation and harmful electoral narratives and enhancing stakeholder engagement and public enlightenment
The REC said that strengthening collaborations with reputable organisations like KDI is crucial to building public trust and ensuring the 2026 Osun Governorship Election meets the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
The visit concluded with mutual assurances of continued cooperation and a shared commitment to advancing credible and peaceful elections in the state.
