The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has clarified that it has not suspended the proposed delineation of Wards in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Federal Constituency of Delta State, contrary to media reports.

According to a statement issued on Monday, September 29, 2025, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Sam Olumekun, mni, explained that the report stemmed from a misquote of a Commission official. He emphasized that while no final decision has been made, “the proposed delineation has not been suspended.”

Similarly, Olumekun confirmed that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is ongoing in all local government areas within the constituency. INEC appealed for calm and urged stakeholders to maintain peace as the process continues.

Meanwhile, INEC announced that a total of 6,232,673 Nigerians completed online pre-registration during Week Six of the CVR exercise held between September 22 and 28, 2025. Youths between the ages of 18 and 34 dominated the figures with 4,230,715 registrants (67.88%), while women (52.15%) once again outpaced men (47.85%).

Going further, he stated that students accounted for 1,565,824 registrants (25.12%), while Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) recorded 137,865 entries.

At the state level, said Olumekun, Borno State led the chart with 682,805 online pre-registrations (10.96%), followed by Osun with 599,363 (9.62%) and Lagos with 555,442 (8.91%). States with relatively low turnout include Abia (5,225), Enugu (5,092), and Ondo (14,388). Registration remains suspended in Anambra State in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act, 2022, ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

INEC also released figures from Week Five (September 22–26), showing 1,004,132 completed registrations nationwide, with 537,743 online and 466,389 physical. Women made up 55.28% of that week’s total, while youths accounted for 73.93%.

The Commission appreciated the increasing participation of youths, women, and PWDs, describing it as a boost for inclusivity in Nigeria’s electoral process. It urged those who have pre-registered online to complete their biometric capture at designated centres before the close of the exercise.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to credibility, transparency, and inclusivity, assuring Nigerians that every valid registration will strengthen the nation’s democracy.
