The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Osun State, as part of preparations for the 2026 governorship election.

In a press release dated January 4, 2026, and issued by the Osun State office of the Commission, INEC disclosed that the exercise will begin on Monday, January 5, 2026, across all designated registration centres in the state.

According to the statement, the second phase of the CVR is designed to accommodate eligible Nigerians who were unable to register during the first phase. It will also cater for citizens who have recently attained the age of 18, as well as existing voters seeking to transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), correct personal details, or replace lost or damaged PVCs.

INEC urged all eligible residents of Osun State to seize the opportunity, stressing that voter registration remains a constitutional requirement for participation in any election.

The Commission reassured the electorate of its resolve to deepen Nigeria’s democratic process through credible and inclusive electoral activities. It noted that the Osun State INEC office, under the leadership of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, is fully committed to transparency and strict adherence to the Electoral Act and the Commission’s guidelines.

The statement further explained that the CVR exercise forms a critical component of INEC’s early preparations towards the successful conduct of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.

Members of the public were advised to visit INEC offices across the state or follow the Commission’s official platforms for additional information and updates on the registration exercise.

The press release was signed by Musa Olurode, Public Affairs Officer, INEC Osun State, on behalf of the Honorable Resident Electoral Commissioner.
