The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a sweeping reorganization of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force, signaling a decisive move to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance leadership capacity, and improve service delivery nationwide.
The directive, announced on March 24, 2026, forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at reinforcing the Force’s command structure through the strategic deployment of experienced personnel to critical departments, formations, and zonal commands.
Under the new postings, several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been assigned to key roles at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and other strategic locations. Among them, AIG Ado Emmanuel takes charge of Research and Planning, while AIG Joseph Eribo heads the Department of Armament. AIG Miller G. Dantawaye has been deployed to Operations, and AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche will oversee Training and Development.
Similarly, AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo has been posted to Police Accounts and Budget, while AIG Dahiru Mohammed assumes duty at Zone 15, Maiduguri. Other notable postings include AIG Dankombo F. Morris to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; and AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos. AIG Ahmed Musa will now oversee Community Policing at the Force Headquarters.
The shake-up also affects Commissioners of Police (CPs), with several deployed to state commands and specialized units. CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola has been posted to Oyo State Command, while CP Olatunji Olaiwola Fatai takes over Lagos State Command. CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed has been assigned to the Federal Capital Territory Command, and CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya to Jigawa State Command.
In a similar vein, CP Olubode Ojajuni has been deployed to Ogun State, CP Michael Adegoroye Falade to Ekiti, and CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Delta State Command. Others include CP Yakubu Useni Dankaro (Adamawa), CP Morkwap S. Dongshal (Taraba), CP Ahmed Mohammed Bello (Zamfara), CP Umar Ali Fagge (Katsina), and CP Hayatu Shaffa Hassan (Sokoto).
The reorganization also extends to specialized formations and units. CP Akan Ezima has been appointed Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Abuja, while CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue has been posted to INTERPOL, Abuja. CP Moses Ashu Otta will now head SWAT in Abuja, and CP Abbas Sule joins the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
Further postings see CP Danjuma I. Yahaya deployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Kaduna, CP Sheik M. Danko to FCID Annex Lagos, and CP Ojugbele E. Adebola to FCID Alagbon, Lagos. CP Theodore C. Obasi has been named Deputy Commandant of the Police College, Ikeja, while CP Eloho E. Okpoziakpo takes over the Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi.
In his charge to the affected officers, IGP Disu urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new roles, emphasizing the need for professionalism, discipline, and dedication to duty.
The statement conveying the postings was signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, who reiterated the Force’s commitment to reforms geared toward a more responsive and effective policing system across the country.
The latest redeployment underscores the Police leadership’s resolve to reposition the Force in line with evolving security demands and public expectations.
