The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has suspended its discounted fuel supply scheme due to allegations of fraud involving some affiliate marketers and strategic partners.
These marketers were found to be diverting subsidized refined petroleum products for profit.
The refinery suspended the discount scheme effective July 13, 2025, due to widespread abuse by marketers.
Marketers were reselling products at market rates far above the agreed subsidized prices, undermining the scheme’s objectives.
However, the refinery allowed valid Product Release Notes to remain effective, and partners who completed payment processes before the suspension date would still receive products at the agreed discounted rate.
The abuse of the scheme distorted the downstream market, with diverted products sold at higher prices.
The refinery plans to restructure the scheme and explore other incentive/reward programs for strategic partners.
