The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over the timing of his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Keyamo accused Atiku of attempting to divert national attention during a period of mourning following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Keyamo questioned the timing of Atiku’s resignation, which was announced barely a day after Buhari’s death.

Keyamo also raised concerns about Atiku’s continued use of the Nigerian Coat of Arms in his private communications, citing legal and ethical implications.

However, the former Vice President cited “irreconcilable differences” with the PDP as the reason for his resignation.

Atiku’s resignation is widely believed as part of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with him joining a coalition seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
