The former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused the United States, its Western allies, and some Nigerian actors of orchestrating a plot to ignite a religious crisis in the country.
In a strongly worded statement titled “The Fiction of Christian Genocide and the Conspiracy Against Nigeria” posted on his X social media handle(formerly Twitter) on Sunday, 5th October,2025. Fani-Kayode claimed that recent comments by American and Canadian officials alleging a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria were part of a calculated attempt to destabilize the nation.
Fani-Kayode said that “there is a deliberate attempt by foreign interests, supported by their local collaborators, to portray Nigeria as a country engaged in systematic persecution of Christians,” warning that such narratives could inflame sectarian tensions.
The former minister, known for his outspoken views on national and international affairs, described the reports of religious persecution as “fictional propaganda” designed to create division and invite foreign intervention.
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, adding that “those peddling these lies are enemies of the state who seek to plunge our country into chaos.”
