A fresh wave of outrage has erupted in Taraba State after revelations that Mrs. Loveth Felix was allegedly contracted to sit for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) exams on behalf of the Taraba State Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Sarah Enoch Adi.

The shocking development, captured in a video clip now circulating widely, has raised fundamental questions about integrity in public office and the competence of those entrusted with managing public funds.

Observers say such brazen acts of academic fraud not only erode the credibility of professional qualifications but also expose how individuals without the requisite merit are often placed into positions of authority. Critics argue that while hardworking professionals struggle to earn their place, political patronage continues to shield mediocrity and even fraudsters.

“This is why Nigeria’s institutions remain weak,” said one of the commentators while reacting to the video. “If people who cannot even sit their own professional exams are rewarded with top appointments, what hope is left for genuine professionals who burn the midnight oil?”

The development has sparked calls for a full-scale investigation into the Commissioner’s conduct, with many insisting that anyone found guilty must face sanctions both from ICAN and the state government.

For now, the scandal underscores a troubling reality; when cheating and shortcuts are rewarded with public office, accountability, merit, and professionalism are the ultimate casualties.
