Desmond Ike-Chima, a Lagos-based travel journalist and YouTuber known as Walker, is embarking on a historic solo road trip across 16 West African countries.
His ambitious project, TravelAfrica, aims to showcase the authentic soul of Africa, its people, stories, cultures, and landscapes.
16 West African countries, including Ghana, Senegal, Mali, Cape Verde, and Burkina Faso.
The three months, starting from this July aims at challenging tired stereotypes and put Africa’s authentic voice front and center, inspiring other Africans to own and tell their stories.
Desmond says, “Travel is in my blood. My dad took me everywhere as a kid, and that shaped who I am. Now, I want to show the world that Africa is beautiful, diverse, and full of stories that deserve to be heard.”
Despite fears over logistics, security, and lack of sponsorship, Desmond is pressing on, funded by his savings and a supportive friend.
