The Nigeria Police Force has successfully arrested and repatriated Chen Gaochong, a Chinese national wanted for tax fraud amounting to approximately $5 million (5 million Chinese Yuan).
Gaochong was apprehended in Lagos on June 24, 2025, through a joint operation between the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, and Chinese law enforcement authorities.
Gaochong allegedly issued 45 fake Value Added Tax invoices totaling RMB 4,974,400 between May and August 2017.
He fled China in 2019 and entered Nigeria in 2021, attempting to conceal his identity.
Gaochong was arrested in Lagos and handed over to Chinese authorities on July 3, 2025.
