Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s remains arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina State on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

President Bola Tinubu led a high-level delegation to receive the body, which was conveyed by a Nigerian Air Force aircraft from London, where Buhari passed away on Sunday.

A brief military ceremony was held at the airport before the body was moved to Daura for burial.

The Jana’iza will take place followed by interment at the late President’s residence in Daura.

President Tinubu has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to ensure a dignified and well-coordinated burial program.

Condolence registers have been opened across all Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as Nigerian embassies and missions abroad.

World leaders have sent condolence messages, testifying to Buhari’s global stature and legacy.
