In a swift response to unravel the gruesome murder of the Arise TV journalist, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has opened a discreet investigation into the tragic circumstances of Somtochukwu Maduagwu death. She was killed during an armed robbery attack in her residence at Katampe, Abuja, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

While confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, condemned the killing as a “cruel and senseless act that has no place in a sane society.”

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, CP Adewale assured the public that the command is fully committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. He ordered an immediate deployment of intelligence and operational teams to track and apprehend the suspects.

The police appealed to residents for timely and useful information that could aid the investigation, urging the public to raise the alarm in suspicious situations to help prevent such crimes.

CP Adewale also extended condolences to Maduagwu’s family, friends, and colleagues, describing her as a talented anchor, reporter, and producer whose untimely death is a painful loss to the media industry.

“The FCT Police Command commiserates deeply with the bereaved family and the media community and pledges that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement read.
