The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting tomorrow, July 24, 2025, in Abuja, to pick a new National Chairman to succeed Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned citing health issues.
The meeting’s agenda also includes updates from the Constitution Review Committee and party congresses.
Top Contenders for the National Chairman position including
Tanko Al-Makura, former Nasarawa State Governor, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Ali Dalori, current acting National Chairman.
The North-Central APC Forum is pushing for the National Chairmanship to return to their region, citing historical contributions and the existing zoning arrangement.
The forum believes this is only fair and just, given the region’s significant role in the party’s growth and success.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend the meeting, which will likely shape the party’s future leadership and direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
The outcome of this meeting is highly anticipated, and we’ll have to wait and see who emerges as the new National Chairman of the APC.
