The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, has summoned members of the Council of State and the Police Council to a high-level strategic meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, the meeting is expected to deliberate on key national issues, particularly those affecting national security and policing across the country.

According to the announcement, the Council of State meeting will commence at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Police Council meeting at 2:00 p.m., both to be held at the Council Chambers, Aso Villa, Abuja. Participants are expected to attend either physically or virtually, the statement added.

The SGF’s move is seen as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed efforts to strengthen coordination amongst top advisory bodies of government in tackling security and governance challenges confronting the nation.

The statement further emphasized that the meeting reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding citizens and ensuring effective national governance.
