The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has faulted the Kaduna State Police Command for failing to protect its members when armed thugs disrupted the party’s inauguration event over the weekend.
In a strongly worded statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused the police of attempting to “criminalise legitimate political activity” and siding with the ruling APC.
ADC rejected police claims that the gathering was “unauthorised,” insisting that the constitutional right to peaceful assembly supersedes such restrictions.
The party also condemned threats to penalise hotels and venues that host political meetings without security approval, describing it as an intimidation tactic against the opposition.
The party demanded a transparent investigation into the attack, questioning why officers allegedly abandoned their duty during the violence. “Democracy is not a crime. Selective policing is,” the ADC declared, vowing not to be silenced by intimidation.
