Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
This move was announced after a stakeholders’ meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, where they also reaffirmed Adeleke’s commitment to remain in the PDP, quashing speculations of his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP stakeholders’ meeting, which included key leaders like Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Senator Lere Oyewumi, and Osun PDP chairman Sunday Bisi, resolved that Osun State, being Tinubu’s ancestral home, makes him a “son of Osun State” and thus worthy of their endorsement.
However, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has slammed Adeleke and Oyinlola over this endorsement, accusing Adeleke of political indecision.
ADC Osun State chairman Charles Omidiji claims Adeleke’s backing of Tinubu won’t save him from defeat in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Omidiji confidently declared that the ADC, with ex-Governor Rauf Aregbesola as its Interim National Secretary, will produce the next Osun governor.
Osun PDP endorses Tinubu for 2027 re-election while Adeleke remains in PDP, shelving APC defection plans.
