The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is taking over the structures of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in several Northern states, including Yobe, Gombe, and Adamawa, as part of its efforts to build a formidable coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party is wooing high-profile politicians from the PDP and APC to join its coalition.

The PDP remains defiant, describing reports of defections as “good riddance” and insisting that the party is strong and united.

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that he remains committed to the LP and is focused on contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Boron State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has denied rumors of defecting to the ADC, affirming his loyalty to the APC.

The ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative to the ruling APC, with its Interim National Spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasizing the party’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
