The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced the suspension of admission into its Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to an official notice issued by the University Management, FUTA will not admit students into the MBBS programme for the coming academic session, including candidates seeking admission through the Direct Entry (DE) route.
The development directly affects candidates who have already selected FUTA as their institution of choice for the MBBS programme in the ongoing registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
In view of this decision, the university has strongly advised all affected candidates to urgently seek alternative institutions offering the MBBS programme for the 2026/2027 academic session to avoid losing their admission opportunities.
The notice was signed by the Registrar of the University, Mr. C.O. Adeleye, and dated February 3, 2026.
FUTA urged prospective candidates and the general public to take note of the announcement and comply accordingly.
For further information, candidates are advised to monitor official FUTA communication channels and JAMB guidelines.
