The Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, has commended chairmen of the 30 Local Government Areas in the state for the successful completion of their 2026 budget presentations.
Hon. Abiodun described the exercise as seamless and constitutionally sound, attributing the success to a shared commitment among council bosses to reposition local governments for improved socioeconomic development.
In a statement personally signed on Tuesday, 23rd December,2025, the ALGON Chairman congratulated citizens and residents of Osun State on what he described as a significant milestone in grassroots governance.
“This is a new dawn to restore the lost glory of quality local government administration in Osun State,” Abiodun said.
He reaffirmed the resolve of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led local councils to entrench good governance and drive sustainable development at the grassroots level.
According to him, the smooth presentation of the 2026 fiscal budget proposals across all 30 LGAs clearly demonstrates the determination of the councils to hit the ground running and deliver people-oriented governance.
“The seamless and successful presentations of the 2026 fiscal budget proposals across the 30 Local Government Areas is a clear testimony to our cardinal objective to bring all-round growth and development to the grassroots,” he stated.
Abiodun further noted that the exercise underscored the capacity of the councils to function effectively under the leadership of their respective chairmen and executive teams.
“This is an indication that our councils are running under purposeful leadership. I commend our people across the councils for demonstrating the desired commitment and providing leadership capable of advancing the cause of their people and raising the bar of governance at the grassroots,” he added.
Expressing optimism about the future, the ALGON Chairman said the implementation of people-centred policies and programmes would commence in earnest, with the aim of delivering tangible dividends of democracy to residents.
“It is my fervent belief that the implementation of lofty initiatives and people-centred policies and programmes will begin in earnest so as to restore the lost glory and bring development to the masses’ doorsteps,” Abiodun affirmed.
The successful budget presentations are seen as a critical step toward strengthening local government administration.
