The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has announced the commencement of outstanding activities under Phase 1 of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, in consonant with a circular issued by the Commission’s National Headquarters, Abuja, on Friday, 21st November, 2025.
According to a statement released on Saturday, 22nd November, 2025, and signed by the Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, for the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all eligible citizens are given adequate opportunity to register, update their details, or verify their voter information ahead of future electoral activities.
The statement further stated that Phase 1 of the CVR will continue until 10th December, 2025, after which a series of critical activities will take place to strengthen the integrity of the voters’ register.
Among the scheduled activities is the printing of the Preliminary Register of Voters, which will be carried out between 13th and 14th December, 2025. This will precede the mandatory Display for Claims and Objections, slated for 16th to 21st December, 2025.
Within the seven-day display period, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be made available for public scrutiny at the thirty (30) local government offices of the Commission across Osun State. INEC urged registered voters, stakeholders, and members of the public to seize the opportunity to verify their details and raise any claims or objections where necessary.
The Commission further disclosed that 21st December, 2025 has been set aside specifically for the handling of complaints arising from the claims and objections period, while 22nd December, 2025 will be dedicated to the update of data based on the validated claims and objections, in order to enhance the accuracy and credibility of the register.
INEC also announced that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise will resume for Phase 2 on 5th January, 2026, providing another opportunity for eligible but unregistered citizens and those needing corrections or updates to their records to participate in the process.
The commission in Osun reiterated its resolve to uphold transparency and accountability in the discharge of its constitutional mandate, assuring citizens that the ongoing CVR and associated activities are designed to further consolidate Nigeria’s electoral process.
INEC also implored members of the public to rely strictly on official communication channels from the commission for authentic information and to guard against misinformation and fake news.
