The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, came out swinging during a live media chat with journalists from Channels Television, TVC News, Arise News, and ALT News, warning that Nigeria’s political space must be cleansed of every trace of deceit, corruption, and moral compromise.
Speaking passionately, the former Central Bank Governor said those seeking to occupy public office must present themselves as men and women of unquestionable character and integrity, free from all forms of fraud or falsification especially in the area of academic qualifications.
“Anyone aspiring to lead must be above reproach. You cannot aspire to govern with a questionable certificate or any stain of dishonesty. Leadership must stand on truth, not deception,” Soludo thundered.
He insisted that the time had come for Nigerians to reject individuals who cut corners or manipulate credentials to gain political power, warning that such acts undermine the nation’s moral foundation and credibility before the global community.
The governor also used the occasion to restate his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, and transparent governance, describing integrity as the “bedrock of progress.”
“If we allow falsehood to lead, the people will inevitably suffer. Let us build a country where merit, not manipulation, determines leadership,” he added.
Soludo further urged electoral institutions to intensify scrutiny of all documents submitted by potential candidates, emphasizing that the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy depends on the credibility of its leaders.
The media chat also touched on governance issues in Anambra, where Soludo reaffirmed his dedication to inclusive growth, transparency, and performance-driven leadership. He maintained that the forthcoming elections should be about character, competence, and credibility and not on sentiment or deceit.

Nostalgically, he drew the situation to what was on ground before he became the governor and situation as at present. “Though we have not achieve the much expected desires, but the government is trying and we shall continue to improve on the current situation until the state is free from all forms all anti-social vices. ”
