The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to deepen collaboration with the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) to enhance staff development, discipline, and professionalism across the Commission’s workforce.

The INEC Secretary, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, gave the assurance on Wednesday, 10th September,2025 when she received in audience the President and Chairman of Council of the Institute, Commodore Abimbola Olaribigbe Ayuba (Rtd.) and his management entourage, during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.

Mrs. Oriaran-Anthony, who is also a member of the Institute, congratulated the delegation on its recently concluded national conference in Abuja. She emphasized the central role of ethics and professionalism in public service delivery, noting that NIM has been instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s management culture.

She said “INEC has a staff strength of over 14,000 spread across the country. As an election management body that conducts one of the largest elections in the world, we place premium importance on capacity building. We are, therefore, stretch our hands of partnership to the Institute for strengthening our workforce,” she said.

The Secretary further hinted at the possibility of establishing an INEC chapter of the NIM to consolidate professional development within the Commission.

Responding, Commodore Ayuba (Rtd.) said the visit was aimed at consolidating the relationship between both institutions and exploring avenues for peer review and knowledge sharing. “Our mission is to develop management capacity at all levels and regulate the practice of management in Nigeria. We recognize INEC as a strategic institution and we are here to seek collaboration. We also look forward to welcoming more INEC staff into the Institute, and hopefully, in the near future, to celebrating you as fellows of the Institute,” Ayuba said.

The NIM was founded in 1961 and backed by law( NIM Act of 2003) and authoritatively the Institute has over 230,000 members nationwide with the clear objectives of continuing contributing to national manpower development.

Both institutions agreed that strengthening discipline, capacity, and ethical standards in governance is key to driving national growth, stressing to build on Wednesday’s engagement as the foundation of a stronger partnership.

Other members of the NIM delegation included the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Taiwo Ganiyat-Olusesi; Council Members Mrs. Christy Adejor, Mal. Ibrahim Anas, Mr. Abayomi Folarin, Mr. Abayomi Anifowose, and Mr. Tayo Badru.
